The
in-house design department at Jepson Precision Tool utilizes state of the art
design software to provide 3D Product and 3D Mold Design
services typically not available from most mold-makers.
As one of the first companies to purchase and use
Pro-Engineer software for mold-making, Jepson Precision Tool has many
years experience designing complex 3D parts and tooling. One of our
biggest selling points in the design department is that we have been able to
push the limits of our mold designs with complex shapes, surfaces and
shut-offs...So much so that our customers have come to recognize us as a
tooling resource for projects that others are just too inexperienced to
handle.
Mold Flow
Analysis
When designing and
building injection molds it is critical that all consideration is given to
insure that the molded parts are filled properly and that injection cycle
times are reduced as much as possible for maximum productivity. For this
reason, we offer C-Mold flow analysis as an additional service for any
project we design and build.
Depending on the
complexity of the part or tool, we may recommend Mold Flow Analysis to help
minimize any issues that could surface during the injection process.
By performing a
detailed Mold Flow Analysis we are able to view computer rendered
images of the injection process from start to finish. Often times this helps
determine runner and gate size which can ultimately affect part quality.
Venting and cooling are additional items that Mold Flow Analysis gives us an
opportunity to address prior to the production tool being kicked-off.
Once the 3D design is approved and completed, we will
translate
the 3D model we’ve created to CNC machine tool cutter paths for a “lossless”
translation from “screen to steel.”
As an initial and often cost-savings solution, Jepson
Precision Tool is willing to serve as a resource and/or project consultant to
help in determining the best route to take for your tooling. Often times
this is during the product’s initial development phase and well before any
hard tooling decisions have been made.
